Baby Girl

Man it's been a long time. My baby boy was 9 months the last time I updated this. He's 2 and a half now! Crazy how fast time flies. He really turned into a sweet and happy little boy. He's a sensitive little soul and gives lots of hugs and kisses. He really makes me so very happy.

Well 3 months ago I had another little one. This time a baby girl. So now we have one of each. The perfect little family, or so everyone says. We are so happy to have this baby girl in our lives. She is the happiest baby I have ever seen!

So here's her birth story!

For about 2 weeks prior to my due date I began having contractions, annoying contractions that seemed to be leading to something but never became anything more. Well my due date came and went, December 9th turned into December 12 and so on. At 5 days overdue I didn't think this baby girl was ever going to come. On the morning of December 15th I felt like things were a bit different. We sent our spunky little boy over to his grandparents house, just in case. Then we headed to the mall for a walk, that would hopefully get things moving.

As we walked the mall, the contractions began to get stronger. We ran into my grandparents at the mall and talked with them for a little while, then continued walking. Things started to get a little more intense so I told Matt it was probably time to head home. I didn't want to get too tired.

We headed home and things seemed to stop. I was annoyed. I called my midwives and asked if they could come and do a sweep for me. They said they would be by around 6pm after they had finished up some other appointments. I started to walk around the house a bit more and my contractions started up again. I called my midwives again and told them that maybe this was labor and I probably didn't need them to come by at 6, and that I would just call when it seemed to be active labor. Well that was at 5pm, by 5:30 things were super intense and Matt had to call the midwives to ask them to come quicker. They arrived around 20 minutes later. They checked to see how dilated I was and I was already 8cm. So off to the hospital we went!

We arrived at the hospital and headed straight to the maternity ward. They already had a birthing pool set up for me (my midwives called ahead, thank goodness) and I got right in. It was the best feeling in the world at that moment. Not all the pain was gone, but it was a heck of a lot better! I laboured in the pool for a while, and it was time to push. 3 pushes and the girl was out! Born at 7:52 she weighed 7lbs 15oz. It was the most amazing feeling in the world. Being able to deliver my baby with no drugs was not something I ever thought I could do. I was fully prepared for an epidural (I had one with Porter), but nope! She came so quick that there was no time anyway. I felt like I was on top of the world. I am telling you, there is nothing in the world that feels better than the high of giving birth without medical interventions. I felt like superwoman for a few days! I had a bit of tearing, but it was not even close to as bad as my first. We were out of the hospital by about 10pm, and home snuggling our new baby girl.

My parents came by to see her (and us), and then we attempted our first night home. Our awesome little boy stayed over at my in-laws house for a few days, but on the 16th he came to visit his new baby sister. He was the sweetest big brother ever, and continues to be the sweetest big brother. He wanted to hold the new baby, and gave her soft little kisses. Our family is complete! These two make me so very happy!

I soo wish that Matt's face wasn't blurry.

Contractions suck guys.

She was a chunk!

Beautiful baby girl.
